My first trip to Wok of Fame: A Horror Story

My very first trip to Wok of Fame took place early last year and was one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve had to date.  Perhaps if there had been someone there to explain to me how the restaurant works but you would think that is what staff is for. Restaurants should also not require an explanation.

When we first arrived at Wok of Fame it was very similar to the Mandarin, which we’ve been to many times in the past and greatly enjoy. This set us up for an even bigger disappointment. We were seated and a server came over to provide us with water and then disappeared and did not return until we went back to the check in desk to ask for our bill. It was later explained to us that if we took the drink triangle in the middle of the table and flipped it over, a light would appear on the ceiling and a server would come over. Why do they think is something obvious that we would know to do? The server should have explained it, or at least the very least the hostess, as we told them both it was our first time there.

The food itself was okay, however many stations seemed to be closed, which did not make much sense to us because it was 7 pm on a Friday and we were told that was one of Wok Of Fame’s busiest times. The food seemed to consist largely of two different types of sushi and a couple warming plates, but not much in terms of variety. Many of the offerings would be similar to what you would find at other restaurants offering Chinese Food in Brampton. Once again, we were later informed that there was table where they would cook meats and vegetables for you in the middle; however none of those tables had anyone behind them so I don’t see how we would have determined that.

I’ve been told we must have had a bad experience, but it leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. I personally think there is much better Chinese Food in Brampton. What do you think of Wok of Fame?
